Deep Fried Ice Cream
This crispy fried ice cream is crunchy on the outside and creamy inside. Serve with honey, whipped cream, and cherries.
Ingredients
1-quart vanilla ice cream
3 cups crushed cornflakes cereal
One teaspoon ground cinnamon
Three egg whites
2 quarts oil for frying
Directions
Make eight balls of ice cream the size of a half-cup. Place the balls on a baking sheet. Freeze for about an hour.
In a small bowl, combine cornflakes with cinnamon. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy.
Ice cream balls should be coated with egg whites. Next, coat them in cornflakes. Repeat if necessary. Allow cooling again for about three hours.
Heat oil in a heavy saucepan or deep fryer to 375°F (190°C).
Use a slotted spoon or a basket to fry the ice cream balls in hot oil for 10 to 15 seconds. Serve immediately by rinsing on paper towels.
