Devilled Sausages Recipe

Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil

600 g pork chipolata sausages see notes

One onion of brown, thinly sliced

One apple is cored, peeled, and cut into slices.

One clove of minced garlic (or one teaspoon of minced garlic)

250ml (1 Cup) Beef stock liquid

400 g can dice tomatoes

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp Dijon mustard English mustard

1/4 cup tomato sauce

1/4 cup BBQ sauce

2 TBSP brown sugar

salt and pepper as desired

Instructions

In the olive oil, heat an enormous frying pan at medium-high temperature. The sausages should be cooked until brown and perfect, turning them frequently. Place the links on an extra plate.

Slice the onion thinly and add it to the pan (with the remaining oil from the sausages). Stir frequently until softened. Add the apple slices and cook for another 5 minutes until the apple is golden. Mix the garlic to cook until it is fragrant (approximately one minute).

In a small bowl or jug, combine the liquid of beef stock with chopped tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, dijon tomato sauce, mustard BBQ sauce, and brown sugar.

Add the sauce to the pan and heat to a boil.

Return the sausages to the pan. Cook and stir for a few minutes, until the sauce is thick and the links warm in the middle—season with salt and black pepper.

Notes

RECIPE NOTES & TIPS:

Add a can of lentils and beans to make the dish stretch slightly. It is also possible to add more vegetables by adding grated zucchini or carrots, corn, peas, or whatever else is in your refrigerator.

Add a bit of chili cayenne pepper and the spice paprika for those who like some additional spice.

Create it as a vegetarian by using vegetarian sausages and vegetable stock.

Any sausage can be employed; however, I recommend buying good quality sausages from the butcher store or supermarket since they offer more flavor and are less stuffed with fillers.

You could also make use of leftover sausages for this dish. Cut them in half (or let them remain whole), add the links to the sauce, and let them simmer until the sauce is heated.

Serving suggestions serve with a dish to soak up all that delicious, lip-smacking sauce! Crusty bread makes a fantastic accompaniment, as are creamy pasta, mashed potatoes, sweet potato mash, polenta, or rice that has been steamed. It can be served with a salad as a side dish or a few steamed vegetables.

Storage This is a fantastic pre-made recipe. They can be kept within an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Just heat them when you are ready to serve and ensure it’s hot throughout.

Freezing This recipe is ideal for freezing! Let the casserole cool entirely, then freeze it, or cut it into the desired portions and store them in an airtight container. The soup can be frozen overnight in the refrigerator or a room for about 3 hours. Then, you can heat this in an oven-safe container or a pan, frying at a low temperature until boiling through.
